Capture It! Scenic Views from LRT-2 Platform

Continuing our journey from that traffic-ridden area of Marcos Highway (see blog post, June 11), I was on my way to LRT-3, fondly called the purple train. It's quite a walk from the jeepney stop all the way to the platform itself. You have to climb and cross the pedestrian overpass, go down and enter the main lobby of the terminal, line up to purchase your ticket, climb or hopefully catch a ride at a moving escalator, then finally, this scene welcomes you.

Underneath beautiful, cumulus clouds is the busy, busy highway that is Marcos Highway. While we see a row of green trees separating the two lanes of the highway, we see the signs of progress: the busy traffic, the factories and other establishments nearby, and if you notice a little further off, you'd see SM City Marikina. Well, the train tracks seem to be an eyesore in all this. Let's take a 180-degree turn and see what's on the other side.

This is the skyline of Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City. We're seeing this from the platform at Santolan station. Look at all that cluster of buildings, which somehow forms the background of the lower buildings you see here. If you notice the purple building on the left side of the picture, that is part of the garage where the trains cool off, recharge and are maintained. The other buildings are mostly factories. But it's nice to see that there are green trees surrounding the area.

Well, my train's here! Where will my next stop be? Well, find out in my next blog! This is Antipolo commuter...boarding the train!

Capture it! The Price of Progress

Nowadays, it's a nightmare to travel through Marcos Highway. If you're a commuter from Antipolo, or Cogeo, or Padilla area, you have no choice but to tread this major highway. While inside the jeep, with my digital camera, I decided to try and capture the scene.

Yup! It's traffic out here. This is the section in front of Robinsons East Mall, the lane going to Quezon City (Marcos Highway ends at Aurora Boulevard). The opposite lane goes back to Antipolo. On the side, you can see road works. There has been construction and improvements going on in various sections of Marcos Highway since 2009.

Here's one of the workers at the scene. He was directing traffic at this time. This is a candid shot. If it seems like he's posing, well, he isn't. Pretty cool huh! Keep up the good work guys!

It's gonna take awhile before we see the end of all the construction work and improvements being done along Marcos Highway. As long as we try to keep our roads safe and travel worthy, I think it's all worth it.

This is the Antipolo commuter wishing all fellow commuters a save and happy trip!

3Cs: Construction...Church...City mall...all in one!

Walking down Marcos Highway, you'll encounter a series of road construction and repair. It is currently being fortified and strengthened. Word on the street goes that it is in preparation for the extension of LRT-2--the purple train line that stretches from Marcos Highway Santolan, to Aurora Boulevard, all the way to Recto. Honestly, this is just my opinion about why the stream of roadworks ongoing along this busy  highway.

Moving along, you might wonder where a couple of sisters are heading down this highway.

Quite recently, this new church opened along Marcos Highway, The St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish Church. Originally, this church is a small chapel in a subdivision along Marcos Highway--Filinvest East. For years, the church where it now stands has been a little unknown because transports breeze through this area along the highway. But not anymore! Let's take a look inside!

This is the interior of the church. The people are just about to get ready for the mass. The altar piece is quite beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a closer shot...I might disturb some people. Anyway, it is a Sunday and I might as well hear mass. You may join me if you wish...

After an hour...

Mass is over! Let's hop on over across the highway again. You will discover that although this highway is heavy on repairs and stuff right now, it's still business as usual.

Here we are! Feel like going to the mall? Just this May, another SM City Mall has opened its doors to the public, particularly, the Antipolo / Marikina / Cogeo/ Padilla public. This is SM City Masinag. Seems that this highway is getting busier and busier every year. More of SM City Masinag in my next blog...besides, I wanna watch a movie...care to join me?

From the Antipolo commuter, ciao for now!
